You may have noticed that solar panels have gone up on the roof of the Methodist Centre. This was made possible through funding from Bristol City Council's Community Resilience Fund. We are very grateful to the Council - already our energy costs are lower, our carbon footprint smaller and our resilience improved.
We are also delighted to announce that funding from the Community Organisations Cost of Living Fund delivered by The National Lottery Community Fund, is helping us to remain resilient and deliver our core services through the winter months. This is giving us the stability we need to host SWEP (severe weather emergency protocol), and act as a hub for community health teams and other outreach work. We have been awarded £49k of funding, and thank the Government for making this possible.

The Bristol Methodist Centre is a day centre for the homeless and vulnerable in the City of Bristol. We are open four days a week (Monday - Thursday) and pride ourselves on being a place where people feel welcome and safe, whilst also being sustained in their daily lives and nurtured in growing and changing.
The Bristol Methodist Centre is representative of the long-standing Wesleyan tradition of assisting vulnerable people across the city of Bristol.
In 1924 the City Mission was built to serve part of this purpose which it did up until 1984 when the service was relocated to a smaller venue located nearby. It became clear to the management and staff that a newer building would be required to sufficiently meet the growing demand, with our services such as free meals, basic sanitation/personal hygiene as well as the need for more improved computer access.
In 2015 the service moved to our current location at Lincoln Street in Lawrence Hill.
Since then we have aimed to fulfil the traditions of the original Methodist project and have expanded the means of assistance to the homeless and vulnerable, which include more modern approaches such as online access and training for those in need.
The new bigger building has meant that partnership working with other agencies has been much more efficient and we are able to deal with the growing demands on our service.
The Methodist Centre has become a necessary hub for organisations to centralise their operations and work closely with us in assisting those individuals with complex needs. In this way of working together with other service providers, we have helped a great many people achieve successful outcomes across a variety of complex issues, helping them on their journey of change and breaking the cycle of homelessness.
We are dedicated to offering shelter, sanctuary and support to the homeless, vulnerable and excluded by offering a safe, peaceful and welcoming environment . That is open to all with staff that are able to come alongside our guests at their varying points of crisis and will journey with them, as we seek to first address their short term needs and then help them make changes or arrange support for them to achieve their long term needs.
People of all or no faith are welcome at the centre but they must respect our ethos and values.
Our Christian beliefs underpin all of the valued work we offer at the Methodist Centre. Prayer is always available to our guests if they request this, and there is a weekly worship service on a Wednesday morning that is open for anyone to attend if they are so inclined to do so.
